Here we go again: I’ve posted a series of photos from ZoukFest 2008, which starts just after another funny animal picture here.

Another batch update, five photos from yesterday and today. I’d call it a springtime series, but except for Lotaburger, it’s pretty grim.
Okay, the title’s not so original, but it’s accurate! If you want to take these in order — FotoFeed having been updated from last Thursday — start here. The reason I sometimes post images in a series is to make it easier for viewers to know if they’ve missed a few days — so that one can always go back to the beginning of a series, in other words. FotoFeed is a labor of love. See if you can feel it.
Look, we can park in the driveway again!
That’s another sign of spring, the fact that the mud has dried enough to get the car down to the house. We still don’t leave it there most nights, however. There’s a nicer place to park up at the top of the hill. I’m still trying my damnedest to baby the new (2007 model) Vibe, considering the chassis-twisting rutted road between us and Vista del Valle, a dirt road that’s actually been graded, que milagro. I just hate to see it age at all, and of course there are already a few chips and scratches.
But boy do we like this car. Given our lifestyle and where we live, we’ve hardly had the thing in 5th gear at all. Even so, the last fill-up yielded 34.5 mpg, and that was all in-town driving. I can hardly wait to take a real road trip, like up to Iowa and back. I’ll bet we crack 40 mpg, easy.
All updated — I’d gotten four days behind. The current series features shots from El Monte Sagrado in Taos. What’s that? Well, after you visit FotoFeed, you can go to the El Monte website and see. I’m not sure what you’d call it. A lodge? A hotel? Some of the rooms cost $500/night, probably more.
I was at a concert in the Grand Ballroom there and sat down in a nice chair in the outer lobby to rest during intermission. Turning to the huge painting on the wall, just inches from my head, I read the signature of Diego Rivera. Right there, close enough to lean over and press my nose against it. I wonder when something like that will happen again.
Wow, that took forever. But I took another hike up the mesa today, the first one in almost FOUR MONTHS! What with snow, ice, and mud, that’s how long that particular dirt trail has been virtually impassable. Anyway, have a look: I discovered several cultural artifacts along the way.
I’m a few days behind on FotoFeed. I could post some weirdness from the past that no one’s ever seen, but I’d really rather take fresh shots. I have to go to town tomorrow, and I’ll take my camera. Maybe something will happen.
UPDATE: Nope, nothing happened. Hang in there.
Because I haven’t been able to go anywhere, it’s been a few days since I posted new pictures. Well, there are four new ones up now. Enjoy!
