Having grown up in El Norte, I get the joke! Instead of speed bumps in the parking lot at our high school, they dug shallow ditches (so the snowplows wouldn’t get hung up on the bumps in the winter). The guys from Española would show up and cruise through the parking lot trolling for chicks. Invariably somebody's lowrider would get hung up in a ditch! Har!
