Welcome to FarrFeed

I’m slowly catching up, still a day or two behind, but there are four more to see.

Meanwhile: here, for your viewing pleasure, is a baby horned toad. Yes, I finally “caught” one. This is a telephoto shot from about four feet away, cropped in Photoshop to bring it even closer. That’s one reason it’s a little blurry. The other reason is that I was in a hurry, obviously. And those are pine needles it’s clambering over, which should tell you something about the size (less than one inch long):

I’ve seen even smaller ones, too!

    HOW COOL IS THAT !!
I haven’t seen one since I moved from Texas…..34 years ago!!

Well, they eat ants, you know, and we got ants. I hear there just aren’t any of these guys in Texas any more: too many people, too much insecticide, etc. I don’t really understand that, ’cause Texas certainly has ants, but maybe not enough of the eatin’ kind.

well…..Arlington(where I’m from) is all glass and cement now…no place for ants anymore, I guess……how sad.
thanks for bringing back memories, John.
    p. s. I wear a James Avery(texas silversmith) horny toad charm to remind me of my childhood out on the plains so long ago.
