It's the sort of half-baked thought-experiment people with a job above their pay-grade come up with before an adult squelches them. Maybe those guys are closet sci-fi fans. Not that the possibility of terrorist commandeering of aircraft isn't real. Not that countermeasures against it are inherently absurd. Those chickens are going to roost if given a chance. It's the measuredness of the measures that's the trick.
