Oh my God, another 10 inches on top of the half a foot we had before. And they’re calling for almost that much again during the day today. Before this is over, we’ll have had well over a foot. It won’t sit that deep on the ground, because so much has settled. The thing is the penetration of the snow…
My poor woodpile. One and a half cords is hidden somewhere underneath the white stuff, and this is mostly wet snow, not powder. Aiyeeeee… it sticks like glue to everything: I pick up a small log or two, bonk ‘em together, and none of it falls off, but has to be scraped. Add that to the suiting up required just to get TO the woodpile, and it’s going to be a rather long day.
We’re supposed to go out to dinner tonight. The hosts live nearby and are coming to pick us up in a 4WD. That won’t be the end of it, because it’s basically been snowing for at least 20 hours (not counting the Sunday morning snow), and it’s supposed to keep going for another 24.
I guess they’re whooping it up in the ski valley, if they can even get out of the lodge, but I’d be happy to see bare ground.
UPDATE: Rats. No, we’re not going out to dinner tonight. The hosts’ 4WD is an aged Subaru, and the road up to their place hasn’t been plowed. Plus, if we did go and then the county plow came along, their gate could be walled in with snow. Phooey.
